Chaos runes are used for low level missile spells, such as wind bolt, water bolt, earth bolt and fire bolt. Chaos runes are the product of using pure essence on the chaos altar currently location in lower wilderness, south of the dark knight fortress requiring 28 runecrafting to produce. They may also be obtained from killing certain npc's. pickpocketing wizards, Rune stalls, Barrows chest, and Easy-medium clue scroll caskets.
