Treasure Trails is a minigame where players find and solve clues to gain rewards and exploration experience. Many of the rewards are unique and only obtainable through treasure trails.
Clues[]
Sealed clue scrolls are obtained randomly by doing other activities such as killing monsters, picking flowers, mining, farming, woodcutting or as a reward from clue caskets. Unsealing a clue scroll begins the clue hunt and gives the first clue which must be solved to obtain another clue and finally a clue casket and exploration experience. Several clue caskets of any difficulty may be held onto at once. Only one clue scroll of each difficulty, sealed or unsealed, can be owned at any time. Scroll pouch increases this limit and allows an extra nine clue scrolls of any difficulty to be owned at the same time so the maximum number of any single type of clue is ten with a clue pouch. The pouch can be obtained as a reward from medium and more difficult clue caskets.
Clues have six difficulty levels: beginner, easy, medium, hard, elite and master. Each difficulty level requires certain Exploration level to obtain. Master clues are unique in that they can only be obtained from clue caskets or by combining one of each difficulty tier clue.
Difficulty | Exploration level | Steps to solve | Sources | Exploration XP |
---|---|---|---|---|
Beginner | 1 | 1 - 3 | Low level monsters and resources | 250 |
Easy | 15 | 1 - 3 | Low level monsters and resources | 500 |
Medium | 30 | 3 - 5 | Medium level monsters and resources | 750 |
Hard | 40 | 4 - 6 | Medium to high level monsters and resources | 1,000 |
Elite | 60 | 5 - 7 | High level monsters and resources | 1,500 |
Master | 80 | 6 - 8 | Clue caskets or by combining one of each less difficult clue | 3,500 |
Item request and question clues do not count towards the step count as they are considered to be part of the current clue.
If a master clue is received from a reward casket it should be done as soon as possible as having one prevents obtaining further master clues if clue pouch is not used.
Clue types[]
There are ten different types of clues.
Anagrams[]
For anagram clues, players need to solve an entity's name — that has been made into an anagram — and talk the them. The entity may ask a question or have an item request which must be fulfilled to obtain the next clue. An online tool exists to solve most of the anagrams.
Beacons[]
Beacon clues have the player touch a set of beacons with the clue. Each beacon must be clicked in the same order as the clue states. If wrong beacon is clicked, the progress is reset and has to be started from the beginning. The beacon names are abbreviated and the glossary for them is provided here in the wiki.
Chests[]
Chest clues present the player with a riddle that reveals a location of a chest which the player must click.
Ciphers[]
Cipher clues are similar to anagrams in that they contain an entity's name to whom the player must talk to. Again, the entity may ask a question or present and item request to fulfill. The ciphers are caesar ciphers and can be solved with online solvers such as this one.
Hot and cold[]
Hot and cold clues give the player a strange device that points to an unknown direction on the map and tells the player's approximate distance to that location. The distance can be obtained by clicking with the device. Doing so causes damage to the player worth 5% of their maximum health, capping at 50 damage. Once the location of the strange device has been found, a spade must be used to dig up the next clue or reward casket.
Item requests[]
Item requests need the player to bring a quantity of items to a clue entity. An item can be either noted or unnoted but not a mix of noted and unnoted items.
Light boxes[]
A light box is a puzzle where the task is to light up all the light bulbs. The box contains a set of buttons that turn some of the bulbs on and off. To solver the puzzle, the buttons need to be clicked in correct order. An online tool exists to help solve the puzzle.
Maps[]
Maps portray a brown shaded, top-down picture of some location in the game world with a red x marking the spot where the next clue or casket is found. The player must find the location in the map and use spade to dig up the next clue or reward casket.
Puzzle boxes[]
Puzzle boxes contain a slider puzzle that must be solved. Solving the puzzle gives next clue.

Questions are answered by typing the answer into the chat.
